Il principe Bandar bin Sultan, segretario generale del Consiglio di Sicurezza Nazionale e capo dell'intelligence generale dell'Arabia Saudita, ha dichiarato ai diplomatici europei la volontà del Regno di ridimensionare la cooperazione con gli Stati Uniti per armare i ribelli siriani e lavorare invece con alleati come la Francia e la Giordania, nel tentativo di rovesciare il regime di Assad.
